Western Wallflower Erysimum capitatum

My jobsite is exploding with my favorite color (mustard yellow)! I was chomping at the bit to take a couple of these mystery weeds home and research them, so yesterday after the whistle blew I grabbed a handful of these gorgeous flowers known at Western Wallflower (botanical name Erysimum capitatum).

A bouquet of these brighten up my dining room and they have a beautiful yet subtle fragrance.
Medicinally this plant is of the mustard family and was used as a poultice for wounds and rheumatoid pain, and the leaves were dried and used as a tea for bronchial congestion. I haven't found any research saying this plant is medicinally used today so for now I recommend the flowers as a bouquet for your sweetheart 😉
